About the Collective
MC Squared Jazz Collective is a flexible jazz group built around a classic horn and rhythm section format, featuring trumpet, flugelhorn, tenor sax, vocals, piano, bass, and drums.
At the heart of the group are Kevin on trumpet and flugelhorn, Allison on tenor sax and vocals, and Mike on keyboards. The group grew from a simple idea between Kevin and Allison to bring a small jazz combo together and see where the music could lead. From the first rehearsals, the blend of trumpet and tenor sax felt natural, expressive, and full of possibility. When Mike joined on piano, the group quickly found a sound that felt both familiar and fresh.
MC Squared performs jazz standards, swing, blues, Latin, ballads, and tasteful contemporary selections, with a sound that is classy but fun, artistic but approachable, and relaxed without becoming background noise.
